Check...last thing checked off the Adoption List today!!! Everything is now in the hands of Bethany Christian Services & also our Heavenly Father. Today we ventured down to the Seattle Bethany Office to complete our adoption training class. The class was very informative & we enjoyed hearing other's stories, along with the next step in the process & the legalities of adoption.
The first thing on the agenda this morning was an Adoption Attorney from Seattle (that actually also works with Bethany) explained all the legal documents and laws that we have to abided by and also what to expect when finalizing our adoption :)
Then they played parts of the movie "Adopted"...the first section contained information about transracial adoption. When it comes to this aspect of adoption Brandon & I are completely leaving it in God's hands what he feels we are capable of handling. The second section of the movie was about infertility and how it sometimes can affect your adoption process. We found this segment also very informational.
But the best part of the entire day was when there was one birthmother & 3 adoptive families that came in to tell us their journey & stories. This was the most powerful part of the whole day. We started to understand more clearly what the birthmother goes through when making this tough decision & also how open adoption is not as bad as people think...like I said above we are completely open to whatever God has in store for us!!!
WOW...we cannot believe that this day has finally come. On Monday our entire Home Study packet along with everything else that we have done will be sent to Bethany in Seattle for approval. We should now have an approval notice by the end of June, then anytime after that we could get a random call or get a call that a birthmother has choosen us. We are so excited to start this next portion of our "pregnancy" (waiting) and finally feel like our "morning sickness" (paperwork & tasks) is finished. Now we can just relax knowing that this is all in God's timing. Please continue to pray that this process will move along smoothly and that we are blessed with a sweet bundle of joy soon!!
Oh and now the fun stuff...picking out a baby book, getting adoption announcements created, purchasing the coming home outfits (daisies & camo) and also choosing names (not that we haven't had them choosen since we started dating)!!!
