WOW...I cannot believe that we finally have everything that we need for the baby...well at least for the first couple of weeks!! We were told to have the room ready, carseat & stroller bought, diapers, formula, some clothes, blankets, bottles, etc...that would get us through until we had showers. The other thing that we wanted to purchase was the Adoption Baby Book - this way when our baby is born we can get footprints stamped into it along with writing information in it about their birthparents. Let me tell you this has been a chore...either I am extremely too picky or too cheap!! I knew I wanted a modern, neutral baby book (since we don't know what we are having) along with being able to purchase Domestic Infant Adoption insert pages. Well this is what we purchased...we kind of have a green & dot theme in our house!! This baby book is sooooo cute & perfect for what I was looking for. It is Kiwi color, leather & we were able to purchase Adoption insert pages...PERFECT!!!
MOM'S with BABIES I have a question...we are going to start the registering process soon, well because I am a planner & do not want to register with a newborn!! Anyway, I am having lots of problems finding good reviews on baby swings...anyone have a suggestion or any other suggestions for other important items!?!?!

Kari, the Fisher Price Lil' Lamb Dream Swing is a good one. It is a little more than others though. I have the older version of it and the kids spent some time in it:) I hope that helps!

Kari-I never really used a baby swing I loved my Baby Papason Vibrator chair though. Goodluck
We have the fisher price rainforest swing, but honestly didn't use it a lot. Monkey wasn't a big fan of it and liked the bouncer more...but its different for every baby. Our bouncer was my fave thing (a gift from hub's coworkers) and if you like green you will especially like it ;) This isn't the exact one...same brand but outs was solid colors not a print...but regardless its really cool, everyone always really loves it when they visit: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4066496
Make sure you are stocked up on diaper creme...and I'd suggest a variety b/c you don't know what will work for your baby's skin. Palmer's Butt Butter was our fave for daily. Balmex is our one for when diaper rash really flares up (look for zinc in it). Used a few others but those I keep going back to.
Oh, and a BUMBO! Once baby can sit (or almost) its a lifesaver! STILL use ours...just now Monkey can climb in and out on his own =) But its a great booster seat when we're sitting outside to eat, or if we have a littler kid at our house who needs the high chair more than him.
Just so you have reference to a baby that DID love theirs, Gabby used hers all the time, we actually had her sleep in it for most naps and to get her to sleep at bedtime. I want to say it was a standard Graco one (I borrowed it). So long as it rocks, it'll probably be fine! :)
My first baby loved his..but got so in love with it that he wanted to stay in it all night.lol. And then my second didn't like it at all. She wouldn't sit in it without fussing. Every baby is different. I think mine was Graco too.
Hi Kari! It's so good to "meet" you! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am so excited for you guys and can't wait to watch your story unfold! God is truly amazing!
My oldest two never really liked the swing all that much but with my little man it was a MUST! He had acid reflux and slept in his swing the first 4 months of his life. It was the only way anyone could get any sleep. Our swing ran on C batteries and let me tell you it took alot of money to keep that thing running. We love the travel swings so you can just carry them from room to room. Hope you find one that works for you. :)
Our kids have all loved the swing but only rocking side to side so make sure it can swivel. Also if you have read anything on attachment parenting &/or are interested in a baby carrier hands down the Ego is the best. You will use it from day one. Excellent for bonding. You, hubby, and baby will love it. Laura Lee at along comes a baby is great for picking out the gear and answering any questions. danya vm
Graco lovin hug swing is THE BEST!
hey kari- make sure to get a swing that will go forward & back and side to side. it's worth the extra money. isaiah loved our swing that went forward & backward but elijah did not. he only liked being swayed side to side so we never got much use of our swing with him. it's funny how little ones can have such preferences. =)
also HIGHLY recommend the book babywise. it's a lifesaver & makes the transition to parenting so much easier. can't recommend it enough. =)
