Idaho Bound!!!!

Ok so we are officially Idaho bound in a few weeks...not to get your hopes or anything but we are actually travelling to Idaho to go to one of our birthmother's doctors appointments. The other day when I went into the Bethany office they said that our Birthmother called and asked if we ever wanted to come over to one of her appointments. Honestly, I had been wishing that this would be an option...actually the day before I mentioned this to Brandon. The first thing that came to my mind though when Amie said that she requested was that how are we going to afford this. With all the funds going towards the adoption plus costs to travel for the "actual" day I did not know if this would be possible. But I have learned with GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!! I also knew that Brandon would not be able to go due to work these days and honestly he knows that it is a connection that I need to have because I am not officially "pregnant"...he said why don't you see if your mom can go with you. Oh yeah and we have enough airlines miles for the plane ticket plus the hotel stay!!! Yeah...I get to go see our birthmother & SON!!!
So needless to say on February 9th we will be boarding a plane first from Bellingham to Seattle and then Seattle to Boise and will be returning on February 11th. I cannot tell you how excited I am for this opportunity to be able to see our Birthmother & family again and to also be able to hear more from the doctor. Will also were told if we wanted her to have an ultrasound done, because it's not medically necessary they could not bill the insurance, that we would be responsible for the bill...so this is my question to all your mother's who have been "physically" pregnant before...Do you think $250 is worth it to see your child on an ultrasound screen? Because obviously I have not been pregnant I cannot decide if it is worth it or not...HELP!!
Please pray to for my mom, myself, our Birthmother & family as we get ready to see them once again and that our travels are safe...thanks!!

I would say definately worth it but maybe you could check into a 3d/4d ultrasound becauseI am pregnant now and its only about eighty dollars and its much easier to see the baby!

SO excited for you!! And yes, ultrasounds are worth every penny but I would look into a place who specializes in 3d/4d ultrasounds (outside the doctors office) because they are generally cheaper and they are awesome!! We had it done with Landri and I plan on getting it done again...worth every penny.

I agree with the others...try to find a place that does 3D/4D ultrasounds. It was worth every penny to really be able to "see" our son, and he really did look a lot like the images when he was born. I think it will add to your connection while you wait.

I agree...totally worth it. There's nothing like seeing your child up on the screen. It'll bring tears to your eyes...at least it did for me! So excited that you get to go experience this Kari!! Safe travels and enjoy!!

I've been reading your blog for awhile and just now found out how to "follow" and wanted to leave you a comment :)

Ultrasounds are GREAT! I've only been pregnant once and my son was born 9 weeks early so I missed out on a few - but the ones we had were SO amazing. You can even watch him move in there. However, I disagree with a 3D/4D ultrasound. We never had that done...why? Well, we didn't want to ruin the surprise of what our son actually looked like. We didn't want to know if he (looked like) he had my husbands nose, or my mouth or my "snot runner" *as my husband so lovingly calls it hah* and it was definitely worth the wait to see exactly what he looks like.

But just a plain ol ultrasound? GO FOR IT! :)

I have three precious kiddos that I gave birth to, and I had two ultrasounds with each one of them. Of course, insurance paid for them. But I would say if you feel this is a once in a lifetime chance that you might later wish you had taken advantage of, then go for it!

I think the ultrasound will be something you cherish forever. I adopted my daughter and that is something that would of been really neat. Enjoy every minute of it :)

Okay Kari, I'm a practical girl... depends on how far along the birthmother is (sorry, I can't recall!) Up until about 6 months, you can actually see things, but as the baby gets bigger, you just can't see much with the ultrasounds at the doctor's office. BUT, it does seem so much more real. What you have to know is this... you've seen ultrasound PICTURES before, but it's not the same as actually seeing your baby suck his thumb, stretch, yawn... the live view on the screen is PRICELESS, and if you can do a 3d or 4d and get a copy of the video... TOTALLY WORTH IT!

That is so exciting! Not that we had the opportunity, but the birthmother gave us ultrasound pictures from her last appointment so we'd have them. If she has any that she could give you, I don't think I'd spend the extra money but if she doesn't have any, I definitely do it! I'm so excited for you guys!

Oh Kari! The appointments really make a huge difference and it is really such a blessing to be able to be at one! I would have to say that you couldn't really put a price on the ultrasound! It really is just SO amazing and worth every single penny! I'm sure finances are tight but it really creates that 'real' moment and just a huge connection! So excited for you! Baby Westyn is SO close!! :)
