Our Little Man...

Our little man is changing and growing so fast...I know that sounds cliche but it's true. We are trying to enjoy every minute we get to spend with him. He is such a bundle of joy & so precious and we thank God everyday that he gets to be part of our family...we LOVE him so much!!!

On Monday (Day 15) after birth his umbilical cord finally decided to fall off. They typically say 7-10 days so we were a little behind the "normal". Anyway, it feel off and we still goopy under it but I really didn't think too much of it, just thinking it needed to be cleaned and wiped off. Well finally yesterday I kept cleaning & cleaning it but every time I changed his diaper the next time it was goopy and red all over again. I was little nervous about infection we I decided to call the doctor and we all decided "better safe than sorry", so I made an appointment for yesterday afternoon. Once at the doctor's office he said no need to worry about infection but it was something that started with a "g" (cannot remember mom brain). Basically what happens is there is still sensitive skin showing and no scab so his body was trying to goop up to make a scab. Needless to say the doctor said it could have gotten to the size of a marble before it scabbed over. She the doctor stated we should cooterize his belly button (meaning make it gray/black and icky looking) and by Monday he would have a scab and everything would be healing. So that is exactly what we did. I had to hold him again and thinking he was going to cry but basically he just stirred a little & only got mad when we needed to put his clothes back on. Needless to say he was also going to be able to take a "real" bath yesterday but now we are waiting until Sunday or Monday. While we were there the doctor asked if we wanted to weigh him and I said YES...wondering how much he is actually growing because he feels so heavy all the sudden...anyway here are the stats:

Birth Weight (March 13th): 6 lbs 9 ounces

Left Idaho (March 16th): 6 lbs 8 ounces

Last Week Thursday (March 24th): 7 lbs 2 ounces

Yesterday (March 31st): 8 lbs even...WOW seriously gained 1 pound in a week
