Planning for Westyn...

So with Westyn's due date fast approaching "operation get ready" is in full swing or what Brandon would call me "nesting". We started making our to-do list shortly after the holidays and been able to cross quite a bit off of it already. Most are basically projects that we have been meaning to get to but never "found" time...but with Westyn coming it gives us a push to get these things done. This includes planning for Westyn's Adoption Celebration for when he gets home. We are trying to make this celebration as a way for all our friends & family to meet him and celebrate with us but also to say thank you to everyone who has either supported or helped us through this process. I have had so much fun planning this party. I thought it would be special to have a book made for the party so everyone could sign it with something for Westyn. I think this book will be important to him later to see how many people loved him already without even seeing him. I ordered my book on Etsy and it turned out perfect!!!

The little thing in the corner says...
Westyn Craig Mulder
"Adoption Celebration"

Now I guess I can cross that off my list and start on the next task. I do have one question though for all your mom's or parents out there...
What is one thing that you wished you would have done before your baby came home?

Be open minded...Take everything in stride. Don't force things, let little Westyn run the show...It all just comes together, and every baby is so different. Don't let what other parents do, or how other babies act influence the way you feel about yourself as parents. Pray a lot! :)

Gosh, that's a tough question. Our little girl lived in the Gerber Side-snap t-shirts with mitten cuffs for the first couple weeks. I know, not the cutest thing in the world, but the mitten cuffs were so nice and they were much easier to put on than a onesie...I was always so worried about hurting her neck. Eventually I got over the fear, but these really helped me for a while. Also, Landri loved to sleep in her newborn lounger pillow by Boppy...which was awesome because if she wasn't sleeping there, it was in someones arms and sometimes, that is just not always possible.

So excited for you! Have fun on your trip next week!

Make sure with all the to do list and preparations you do get in your date night or even weekend. Make sure you spend that extra time together as a couple because when you bring home your precious baby it is very different and busy in a good way(especially until you get a routine you feel comfortable with as a family). You may not want to leave him for a while for a date night :)

Make lots of freezer meals or make sure you let people know that you would love to have a meal delivered. I would love to be able to bring you guys a meal one night after you get back. Let me know.

SLEEP! And spend lots of time with hubby, because for the first couple months, you might start to forget why you got married, ha! :) (I don't mean that in some awful way, I just mean you're both so busy with the baby and everything, your relationship has to take a back seat for a short time.) Go on lots of dates, maybe a few weekends away, lots of peace and quiet. Get good and reconnected. :)
